Driver CPC Deadline Fast Approaching
You must do Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) periodic training if you’re a lorry, bus or coach driver. The deadline for lorry drivers with acquired rights is 10 September 2014.
So who is exempt from doing the CPC training…?
- Armed Forces
- Police Force
- A fire and rescue authority
- Drivers of vehicles that are being road tested after being repaired or serviced
- Drivers of vehicles that are being used as part of an official response to a state of emergency e.g. delivery of sandbags to stop local rivers flooding
- Drivers of vehicles carrying goods or passengers on a non-commercial basis e.g. transporting your own furniture
- Drivers of vehicles which are carrying equipment / material that will be used by them e.g. a bricklayer drives to site, unloads their bricks to use them in the construction of a house does not need CPC as driving is not their main activity
If you are a professional driver and you do not come under any of the above exemptions, you will need to complete your 35 hours driver CPC training.
