VOSA Roadside Checks for Driver CPC

VOSA is now issuing fixed penalties for drivers caught driving without a driver qualification card.

The regulation came into force on September 10th 2008 for Bus and Coach Drivers and September 10th 2009 for LGV drivers. Anyone passing their test after these dates is required to have a Drivers Qualification Card if they are driving professionally.

They must carry their Driver Qualification Card, their LGV driving licence and Digital Tachograph Card with them whilst driving. Failure to carry your Driver Qualification Card will result in a Graduated Fixed Penalty of £30.00 at the roadside and possible further investigation into the company's operational procedures.

Currently, only drivers who passed their test after the dates above need to carry a card, but the day is fast approaching when every driver will need to carry a Driver Qualification Card - September 2013 for Bus and Coach Drivers and September 2014 for LGV drivers.

For more information about Periodic training to achieve the requisite 35 hours needed to obtain your Driver Qualification Card for drivers who passed their test prior to September 2008 and 2009 respectively please email us at or call us on 01787 221046.
